Yesterday I had the privileged to work with a wonderful women and capture her maternity portraits. She, of course, brought along her equally wonderful husband! This lovely couple has been the first in a while to really give me full rein to be creative and do everything I had in mind. Salina was an absolute trooper bearing the belly in the cold in public, walking everywhere I dragged her, and had a smile on her face the entire time. Usually when I shoot I don’t say much to the photos as I am taking them. I will take it, check it, probably take four more to be 100% safe I got the perfect shot and move on. With this couple I took maybe four shots for each pose and I was so absolutely thrilled with every shot I couldn’t NOT say how cute it was as we proceeded. They really did do an amazing job. The weather held up perfectly with just a little bit of a cold breeze. Below are my favorites from their session. Enjoy!
Yesterday I had the opportunity to work with a really wonderful couple on their Maternity portraits. Megan is a first time mama, and let me tell you, she is rocking it! She’s so beautiful and has a perfect prego body! This little family to be is great and they trusted me from the get-go! I love people who love my work enough to trust me in every aspect! It allows me to think freely and not feel stressed about “impressing” them. I feel trusted and feel like I am really doing something right. Everyone loves to feel like they are doing the right thing in life. When I first met Megan and her hubby Brandon, they expressed what they wanted for their Maternity portraits. I knew right away what I was going to do for them! I took this lovely little family to my “go to spot” at Oak Grove park in Stockton. I’ve taken a bunch of people to this particular spot just because of the park’s wonderful maintenance which makes it beautiful in all seasons, because of it’s quiet scenery, and because it serves up a bunch of different back drops that can match just about any theme. The weather held up beautifully and provided an amazing look to their pictures. I am so excited to share these portraits. I’ve had a great past few sessions, but I think this one is my new favorite. I think I say that every single new session though lol. Any how, thank you so much Brandon and Megan! We had such a great time and can’t thank you enough for supporting us as a couple, business and as artists. I can NOT wait for your baby girl and am still crossing my fingers that we can capture her arrival!

Back to their home we went and captured some absolutely amazing studio-like portraits. I only showed two because the others are a little on the bare side, but they are WONDERFUL! Megan, you did a WONDERFUL job modeling that beautiful bump!
I had the privileged yesterday to do maternity portraits for a great couple; Mirell and Jacob who are expecting their first baby. Adeline Rose is the name they choose for their baby girl! So sweet, right!? Mirell has been ordered to be on bed rest for several weeks now so she didn’t get the option to have her maternity portraits done anywhere creative. Mirell had invited me to her home to talk details and to get to know one another prior to her maternity session, and let me tell you, their home is so beautiful! She was a little sad that the photos had to be done at their home, but I was so excited because of how beautiful their home was. Also, I’ve never had the opportunity to do maternity portraits in an in-home environment like this. I had a few ideas for the maternity portraits but for the most part my approach was going to be to let Mirell and her hubby just be themselves and relax. Mirell was like most people with having their portraits done; she was pretty nervous at first. After a little bit she relaxed and was taking beautiful pictures with her amazing hubby! We had some pretty great laughs here and there. I can honestly say this was the most comfortable session I have ever been on. Mirell and Jacob were so welcoming and friendly. They invited my husband and I right in their home, asked us if we needed anything and was more then happy to just sit and talk as we waited for just the right light. I’m very happy with this session and hope that they enjoyed themselves as much as we did. I really hope that I get invited back to do their baby girl’s portraits once she’s born.

The above picture was sort of a candid moment. Sort of. I was taking a picture of the daddy and the belly when they started to laugh ’cause the puppy “Skittles” was posing as well. So, I bribed him with a treat to sit right up front and…there you have it. Too cute!
Beautiful, natural, window light. I love the colors and I love the intimate feeling the photos portrays.
This is probably one of the top favorites for me. This was a very genuine moment for the three. I remember there being a joke as I walked towards the window (behind camera) and I honestly think that they thought I wasn’t shooting yet because I was behind the chair slightly. The mommy and daddy-to-be share a loving laugh and their little Skittles watches my husband. haha.
This being another favorite! I asked the couple to relax and get cozy. As they got comfy little Miss Adeline decided to start kicking, which produced yet another very genuine moment.

Little bit of a vintage flare on this photo (as requested by Mirell). This is absolutely priceless! The love and excitement just beams right on through these two in this photo. Such a beautiful shot! They both look AMAZING..and baby looks GREAT too!

I know it’s a little soft in the face, but it was such a sweet moment that I didn’t want to NOT share. Jacob (daddy) is holding her belly and looking at baby, as mommy-to-be gives the camera some love.
The perfect family portrait in my opinion. Everyone looks great and Skittles is laying on his mommy’ shoulder and smiling. Too cute.
The best for last. This pose was Mirell’s only request and I feel like it was executed to perfection! I love how the environment tells the story, but doesn’t clutter the image whatsoever! The sun flare is JUST right. And mom and dad look great!

Professional Maternity Photographer at Alicia Gines Photography Portfolio
I took the two over to Lodi Lake for about an hour to do the maternity portraits. The waterfront was such a perfect location for Diane because it provided such great shade which also served up as a beautiful backdrop to her portraits. There were a few special spots that I had picked out for her and let me tell you, they worked out even better then I had anticipated! I really hope that they love the pictures as much as I do and that this was a beautiful and memorable experience for them. I absolutely can not wait to meet their beautiful baby boy when he arrives!

This is Alvin. Already a GREAT daddy. You can tell just by how he naturally held his son’s shoes. You can see how much love and care is already filling the air and awaiting their little baby boy. And aren’t those the cutest little sneakers…ever?!

And there he is….somewhere (maybe not somewhere, I think I see a foot!) in that beautiful tummy is a happy little boy waiting to meet the world! She’s a very happy, and did I mention beautiful, eight month prego with her first baby! Sooo exciting! I was in her same shoes once upon a three wee years ago.
love. love. love. love. love. absolutely positively, without a doubt….love! I almost forgot about the baby belly because of how sweet these two are!
Giraffes have to be the most awkward looking creatures, but even I am guilty of loving them to pieces! Diane and Alvin have chosen a giraffe for their little boy’s first friend. My son had a little giraffe too when he was born and he absolutely loved the thing for a good year or two and called it “Pokey.” This was a cute FIRST shot of the two best friends together!
I wish I had a beautiful, timeless, amazingly cute picture like this when I was pregnant with both my children. Those two fit sooo perfectly in this photo. I love how all of the ideas came together! This is my favorite shot and I REALLY hope Alvin loves it too!
The best for last. This is the sweetest photo EVER! Okay you guys, I have to brag on this one. This is totally going to be blown up as an example for the office! So in love!! Diane, you are priceless. When I pulled these props for you and your outfit this is absolutely what I had in mind, but even I the artist had no idea how BEAUTIFUL it would have worked out for both of us. Just goes to show when you have a compassionate photographer and an amazing client who trusts in you…THIS is what happens!!! Thank you so much again you two.

I was so thrilled to have received such a random email like this! Someone almost on the other side of the United States has been inspired by my photography! She want on in her email to kindly ask if I would be a part of providing professional photography for her website. I couldn’t resist. I love helping other mommies, women, and passionate people so this was right up my ally. I provided her exactly what she asked for and she graciously gave me credit on her website. I so excited to be a part of this with these ladies. They are fantastic and are doing something really wonderful for all women out there who choose to be “normal”….not everyone wants to have their precious baby in a hospital and sometimes religion or heritage might frown up hospitals as well. These ladies offer a solution to that problem, and an amazing one at that!
I know they are a little far away for any of the mamas out here, but you can check them out and educate your self about doulas, home births, etc. And at the very least, just go by and say hi and check out my photos on their website. They are still fixing the website up a little still.

You might recognize that many of these portraits are of me. Totally not my decision! I granted Elizabeth full access to all photos and she choose specific ones all on her own. A couple are of some of my first pieces of work from a first newborn session and some are from my own personal birth experience when I had my daughter.
This shot (above) is of my pregnant belly. I had just been admitted to the hospital with contractions and they were checking the baby’s heartbeat at this point. So, who took the photo? My wonderful back up photographer and second photographer….and hubby!
This shot (above) was one of my first newborns. Not technically “my first” but one of em’. I love shots like this where daddy’s strong arms hold such sweet tiny babies.
(above) Yup. That’s me. I find it hilarious that it looks like I’m wearing makeup but that’s beside the point. I had a c-section with both my children and my obgyn was so fantastic to let hubby bring in the camera to document our daughter’s delivery.
